David V. Aguilar
Chairman of the Board
During a 35-year career at the U.S. Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection, Mr. Aguilar led our nation's largest federal law enforcement organization with a workforce of over 60,000 including 43,000 uniformed law enforcement officers. During his tenure as National Chief of the Border Patrol he developed the first US Border Strategy, doubled the size of the Border Patrol, and developed/instituted the Border Patrol's Infrastructure and Technology Program. Since retiring in February 2013, Aguilar has been a Principal at Global Security and Innovative Strategies ("GSIS"), a leading security consulting and business advisory firm headquartered in Washington, DC. At GSIS, David advises clients on a broad range of national homeland and international security matters including border security and logistics, global trade and commerce, supply chain management and security, risk management, viability assessments, and strategic planning and implementation.
Mr. Aguilar began his CBP career as a Border Patrol agent in 1978 and became Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol in 2004. He was appointed Deputy Commissioner in April 2010 and served as acting Commissioner from 2011 to March 2013. For his work and his career of service, Commissioner Aguilar received the Presidential Rank Award in 2008, the President's Meritorious Excellence Award in 2005, the Department of Homeland Security Distinguished Service Medal, the Washington Homeland Security Roundtable Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement Lifetime Achievement Award. During his tenure, Commissioner Aguilar focused on integrated border management, which includes securing our nation's border from all threats, while facilitating travel and trade. Following his retirement from the CBP, Mr. Aguilar co-founded GSIS where he focuses on the development of global risk management solutions related to supply chain security, customs compliance, and all issues related to border protection at and between international ports of entry.
Mr. Aguilar holds an associate degree in accounting from Laredo Community College and attended Laredo State University and the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a graduate of the Senior Executive Fellows program at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Chief Executive Officer, President and Director
Mr. Erdberg has progressed through the executive ranks at Drone Aviation Corp since helping to complete the 2014 share exchange and recapitalization which resulted in the present corporate structure. Mr. Erdberg served as the Company's Chief Operating Officer from June 2014 to October 2015 and President from October 2015 to September 2019 when he also became Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Erdberg has worked with DAC's wholly-owned subsidiary, Lighter Than Air Systems (LTAS), for more than 7 years with a focus on advancing specialized tethered aerial solutions. Mr. Erdberg successfully developed and implemented LTAS’s aerial surveillance solutions in various vertical markets of Government and commercial sectors including multiple Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and commercial customers. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Erdberg has played instrumental roles in building public and private companies involved in various technology sectors including: software development, telecommunications, wireless networking and unmanned aerial systems. Mr. Erdberg graduated from Florida International University with a B.A. in International Business.
Kendall W. Carpenter, CPA
Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer
Kendall Carpenter joined the Company at inception in 2014 following its merger with MacroSolve, Inc. where she served as Executive Vice President and CFO for over six years. Ms. Carpenter's previous experience includes Division Controller with Allied Waste Industries (AW) and over 10 years' experience as top financial officer of an enterprise software company with an international customer base. She also has over 8 years of experience in public accounting. Ms. Carpenter graduated with a B.S. degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University where she served as president of the OSU Flying Aggies and was captain of its competitive flying team. Ms. Carpenter holds the professional designations of Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant and Certified Management Accountant.
Co-Founder and Acting Chief Technology Officer
Kevin Hess has 20 years of technology experience comprising electronic systems design for DoD programs, image processing and analytics for companies such as Hughes, Kodak and Dainippon. Mr. Hess has been integrally involved with Lighter Than Air Systems Corp. as an engineer and consultant since its founding in 2009, overseeing the development of its proprietary aerostat and drone products. As an IT executive at Fortune 250 companies, Mr. Hess has performed lead roles in software development, application architecture, mission-critical infrastructure, and multi-million dollar project sponsorship and oversight. Mr. Hess continues to leverage his background and education in computer science, having attended the Harvard Business School residence PMD program to further his strong track record of technology innovation and financial management. Mr. Hess brings his unique talents to the design, manufacturing and support of the Company's solutions.
Reginald L. Brown
Chief of Staff
More than 35 years in high-level executive sales, marketing, management, information technology and business consulting across the public sector. Brown’s diverse business experience includes serving as vice president of U.S. solution sales for Oracle Corporation and Director of Federal Global Operations and Government Affairs, Integrated Systems, for Xerox Corporation as well as serving as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense when he was appointed to the prestigious President’s Commission on Executive Exchange.
Felicia A. Hess
Chief Quality Officer
As President of Lighter Than Air Systems Corp. (LTAS) since its inception in September 2009, Ms. Hess expanded her company’s impact on the lighter-than-air market through its tethered aerostat surveillance systems, which resulted in the company’s acquisition by Drone Aviation Holding Corp. in 2014. Prior to Drone, Ms. Hess served in a business development role for a financial services marketing company where she worked with some of the nation’s largest financial institutions. Ms. Hess is a 1989 graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Rhetoric and Communications.
